Since August 2021 and the installation of a new government in Afghanistan, public school teachers have stopped receiving their salaries with few exceptions nationwide. Although primary schools were open at the start of the school year throughout the country, keeping them open during the current school year has been challenging due to the lack of state budgets to pay the salaries of teachers and to ensure minimum inputs to education. As part of its emergency response to address the urgent needs of the population in Afghanistan, UNICEF is implementing teacher payments at scale, with support from donor partners. To do this effectively, a verified list of active teachers in the country is required. UNICEF has engaged ACT for Performance as a third-party organization to conduct the verification process. The purpose of the registration and verification of teachers through Third-Party Monitoring Services to UNICEF Afghanistan is to collect individual information of public-school teachers across Afghanistan by physically visiting public schools and verify the accuracy of existing Ministry of Education (MoE) teachers’ list. Thus, ACT for Performance is verifying and registering teachers and school’s staff in 3 provinces of Afghanistan. An exercise that deploys 80 data collectors to verify and register an estimated totalling 23,280 teachers and other staff in 1,713 schools listed in Kandahar Kunar and Nangarhar
